Melbourne took to pickleball the way it takes to everything: quickly, enthusiastically, and mostly indoors. Which makes sense. Nobody wants to chase a plastic ball across a car park in a July sideways drizzle.
The result is more dedicated indoor pickleball venues than almost anywhere in the country. This is our guide to the best of them, with the address, courts, facilities, what's on and a map for each. We last checked these details in October 2026. Sessions and prices change, so check the venue's booking page before you go.

Indoor or outdoor in Melbourne?
Indoor, mostly, and for good reason. Melbourne's winter is cold, wet and windy, and outdoor courts get slippery. That said, a dry spring or summer evening at Pickle Park, Elsternwick or Clifton Hill is hard to beat.
Most Melbourne pickleball is played indoors on smooth courts, where a softer indoor ball feels best. But if you also play outdoors, cold mornings are when hard outdoor balls are most likely to crack. Read more in indoor vs outdoor pickleball balls.
Want to compete?
Several venues run DUPR-rated events, and the Victorian Pickleball Championships attracted just under 1,000 entrants in 2026. Pickleball Victoria lists affiliated clubs and sanctioned events across the state.
