Where to Play Pickleball on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast took to pickleball early and hasn't let go. It's home to what's described as Australia's first dedicated pickleball club, there are courts from Hope Island to Currumbin, and at any given moment a surprising number of retirees are out-dinking people half their age.

1. Gold Coast Pickleball Association HQ

Described as Australia's first dedicated pickleball club. The association runs daily sessions from its Currumbin base and also plays at Runaway Bay, Tallebudgera and Pizzey Park.

3. Tallebudgera Leisure Centre

Six indoor courts with regular morning and evening sessions.

• What's on: Sessions Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7am to 10am, and Monday evening 6pm to 8:15pm

5. KDV Sport

A sports precinct with three pickleball courts, early starts and the coast's original padel club next door.

7. Gold Coast Senior Tennis Centre

Don't let the name fool you. Pickleball here is open to all ages.

8. Gold Coast Racquet Club

10. Hope Island Resort Tennis Centre

11. Tamborine Mountain Pickleball Club

A small, friendly club up the hill. Equipment is provided, so you can just turn up.

A note on Gold Coast balls

Outdoor balls on the coast cop sun, salt air and humidity, and a lot of the courts here get used from dawn until well after dark. That's a lot of hours on one ball. Where is the best place to start pickleball on the Gold Coast?

The Gold Coast Pickleball Association runs come-and-try sessions and daily social play, and is the easiest way in. KDV Sport's Coach 'n' Play is another good option.

Is there indoor pickleball on the Gold Coast?

Yes. Tallebudgera Leisure Centre has six indoor courts, House of Pickle has three, and Rebound Stadium in Elanora runs indoor sessions too.

Can I hire a paddle?

Yes. House of Pickle hires paddles for $5, and most clubs have loan paddles for beginners.
